Healthy Homes in a Toxic World: Preventing, Identifying and Eliminating Hidden Health Hazards in Your Home

(with Shirley Linde, Ph.D), John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 1992

Carcinogens and toxic fumes don't just pollute the environment--they hit us where we live. Twenty million U.S. homes contain dangerous levels of lead and one out of five children may suffer neurological damage and learning disabilities as a result of lead poisoning. One out of six Americans drinks water contaminated with biological or chemical pollutants. Add to these, the hazards of radon gas, formaldehyde gas, mycotoxins, PCBs, and a host of other man-made and naturally occurring pollutants and you can understand that your home may be playing host to and you begin to see why the Consumer Federation of America says that sick houses are the number one health and safety issue of our times.
